Johnson Street Bascule Bridge

Steward Machine was responsible for the fabrication, testing, coating and delivery of new Span Drive Machinery, Span Support Machinery and Toe Lock Machinery. The (4) Span Supports consisted of (5) pivoting locations to evenly distribute the 2,000-ton load of the bascule span during operation of the bridge. Each pivot required shrink fit bushings with machined shafts installed at Steward’s facility. Each Support also had (3) sets of bogies to maintain alignment of the bridge during this operation. Steward Fabricated the Pinons, Racks, and mounted the Hydraulic Motors for the Span Drive Equipment.
